Privacy Notice

What happens to your name, your voice and your picture when you call The Ray Foley Show.

Who is responsible

This site and the calls made through it are operated by Ray Foley Media Limited, a company registered in Ireland, company number 482017. We are the data controller.

For anything to do with this notice, or to exercise any of the rights below, contact privacy@talktoray.ie.

What we collect

We do not ask for your phone number, address, email or date of birth, and you should not enter them.

Why we collect it

Our lawful basis

We rely on legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. Our interest is in making and broadcasting a radio programme; you have chosen to contact a radio show in order to take part in one. Before you join, we tell you plainly that calls may be recorded, broadcast and shared, and joining is your choice.

Some processing here is carried out for the purposes of journalism, and section 43 of the Data Protection Act 2018 applies to it. That does not remove our duty to keep your information safe and to handle it fairly.

If you happen to mention something sensitive on air — your health, your beliefs, your politics, your sexuality — that becomes information you have chosen to make public yourself. If you would rather something you said was not broadcast, tell us during the call or contact us straight afterwards and we will do our best, though we cannot recall something already transmitted live.

Who else sees it

Daily.co provides the video calling technology and processes your call on our instructions, under a data processing agreement. Their infrastructure may involve transfers outside the European Economic Area, which are covered by the safeguards required under Chapter V of the GDPR.

The listening public will hear your call if it goes to air, and anyone on social media may see it if a clip is published. That is the point of ringing a radio show, but it is worth saying out loud.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

How long we keep it

Recordings are deleted after 30 days.

The exceptions are material that was broadcast or published, which stays in the show archive and on the social channels it was posted to; and anything we are required to keep longer to deal with a complaint or a legal or regulatory obligation.

Your rights

You have the right to:

Email privacy@talktoray.ie and we'll come back to you within one month. Where material has already been broadcast, some of these rights are limited by the journalism provisions mentioned above — but ask us anyway, and we'll explain where we stand.

If you're under 16

Please don't use this to call the show without a parent or guardian knowing. If we find out we've recorded someone under 16 without that, we'll delete it.

Cookies

This page and the join page set no tracking or advertising cookies. The video provider uses only what is technically necessary to make a call work.

Complaints

Come to us first and we'll try to sort it. If you're not happy with how we've handled it, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission, 21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2, D02 RD28 — dataprotection.ie.
